Being semi retired now I have been interested in charitable work for the last few years and have previously carried out some volunteering work at Oxfam (retail) and in an environmental charity (financial and administrative duties).

Ring 20 is a condition that requires further research and those that have the condition and their families, relatives and medical practitioners need continuing information about developments and the positive benefits provided by mutual support groups.

Our charity is an extremely worthwhile cause and I intend to help my colleagues and members to achieve the charity’s aims.

As a chartered accountant for some 45 years I have  held several financial controller positions within international group companies and acted also as finance director/company secretary in medium sized companies.

Allison and Don asked me to join the new charity as trustee mainly to help with financial and administrative matters of which there are several to deal with in a small charity. This has involved me in everything from accounts preparation and insurance, to gift aid claims and donation website development.

I have now stepped down as Trustee, but continue in my role as Treasurer, continuing to manage the financial accounts for the charity.

My hobbies include amateur dramatics, keeping fit, all sport and chasing my young grandson around………
