This year we are creating the opportunity to bring as many r(20) families together over a weekend, with the main focus being a workshop  to create content for a patient information booklet specifically about r(20) syndrome, created by-families-for-families.
To help create a fun and informal atmosphere, we are hosting the workshop at Birmingham City Football Club and inviting Rossie Stone, a comic book illustrator at Dekko Comics to bring all your ideas to life!
Our very own Medical Advisor Dr Sophia Varadkar will be there, together with Emma Ninnis (Epilepsy Specialist Nurse) – whom some of you will remember from Liverpool? We are also in the process of trying to secure an adult neurologist to attend.
The main workshop will run between 10am-4pm (tbc) on Saturday 23rd November and includes lunch and drinks, followed by a Stadium Tour before dinner in the evening. For those staying over until Sunday there will be free time to catch-up – which we know is vital for mutual support. We may even have time to take a trip to nearby StarCity for some family fun activities?

Tickets available here: Workshop Tickets

Depending on your preferences, location and budget you can choose to attend just the Saturday workshop (and dinner if you wish) or stay longer, from Friday evening until Sunday lunchtime and make a weekend of it. Travel and accommodation will be your own responsibility, although if we are successful in securing further funding prior to the event, we hope to be able to offer some kind of grant towards this. Budget hotels very close to the venue include Hotel Ibis Bordesley Circus and The Royal George.

We have agreed a limited no. of rooms at a preferential rate with the Ibis Bordersley Hotel Birmingham for our workshop as follows:

Friday 22/11/2019 15 hotel rooms

£59.00 Bed & Breakfast per room for single occupancy

£64.00 Bed & Breakfast per room for double occupancy

Saturday 23/11/2019 15 hotel rooms

£96.00 Bed & Breakfast per room for single occupancy

£101.00 Bed & Breakfast per room for double occupancy

Please quote Allison Watson from Ring20 and the booking number 879716.

Payment: 100% to be paid 28 days prior to arrival

Room quantity and type depends upon availability at the time of booking. The rates and conditions quoted are based on the above booking request and information. In the event of any changes (i.e. length of stay to be reduced, number of rooms to decrease/increase) the hotel may review its financial offer.

This quotation is valid until 16th of August 2019. Please note that the hotel is unable to guarantee the same rate, availability or T&C if booking is not confirmed by this date.

After the event we are planning to get our r(20) youth involved in a project to work with Rossie’s team to produce the final booklet and are seeking funding so that we can print the booklets and provide them FREE of charge to all r(20) families.

Is the event suitable for all the family?

Yes, we hope to make this an informal and fun-filled event, with lots of interaction and participation, as well as plenty of time to meet and share experiences with other r(20) families. There will be no creche or childcare facility, so parents remain responsible for their own children at all times.
