Karyotype test results

Your doctor may send you a copy of you karyotype test result, or a letter explaining the findings. It may look something like one of those shown on the image to the right.

These test results can be hard  for families to understand if not carefully explained e.g. by a geneticist or genetic counsellor. Everyone’s test result is individual, although there may be similarities within groups of people with r(20) syndrome.

Later in this series we will try to de-mystify these codes for you, as they follow a set pattern. This may empower you to talk to your doctor about what your test result means for you.
