Steve’s Iron Man Challenge, Majorca 2025

Steve is taking on an Iron Man Challenge in Majorca, 10th May for Ring20...

here's what Steve has to say about his preparations so far and his motivation behind taking on such an epic challenge...

Thank you for taking the time to read my post! I had decided to do this challenge initially because my son asked me to do it but I must admit, I was sitting in the sun at the time and agreed too readily. After I had committed to it, I decided it was a great opportunity to also raise money for a great cause and Carl’s daughter Lily was the person I wanted to do it for.

I have taken part in a couple of triathlons before, but this is a whole new ball game! I signed up in August last year and started training at the same time. I also found myself a trainer to help and guide me through everything. I must admit, when I started, I could barely swim 25 metres without getting out of breath or run more than 2Km very slowly. I train 6 days a week and anything between an hour and 3 hours a day. It is hard but the progress I can see really is a motivator. My wife has been a really great source of encouragement, feeding me up with numerous protein shakes and her wonderful porridge!

As I type, I am just over 6 weeks away from the event, so starting to feel both excited and nervous. My goal is to complete it!

One word of warning if you ever want to do something similar, make sure the lake you swim in doesn’t have any algae in it, see picture attached!!

It is hard but the progress I can see really is a motivator.

You've already helped Steve smash his original target...but how much higher can the fundraising go?
