Our first-ever Ring20 Scientific Day (for Professionals only) will kickstart our Families Conference weekend. A whole day dedicated to driving the research agenda for r(20) syndrome forwards – you don’t want to miss this.
A unique opportunity to network with researchers, academics, clinicians, geneticists, pharma/industry with a genuine interest in r(20) syndrome from across the world.
Very likely under-diagnosed and under researched – Ring Chromosome 20 Syndrome is a rare disease and one of many DEE’s that has a significant impact on the lives of those affected and the families that support them. Ring20 are working hard to create a Research Strategy to bring r(20) syndrome out of the shadows.

Friday 30th October - Scientific Meeting (Professionals only)
This meeting will take place in-person and online (hybrid format) with key sessions focusing on advancing our Ring20 Research Strategy including:
- Leveraging genomics to improve diagnosis & understanding
- Natural History and Data Infrastucture
- Moving beyond current care to improve quality of life
The day will end with an option to attend our networking dinner.
SCIENTIFIC INDEPENDENCE
Ring20 Research and Support retains responsibility for the conference programme, speaker selection and educational content. Speakers will be briefed that presentations and discussions must be scientific, educational and non-promotional. Sessions involving treatment or future therapeutic approaches will focus on current evidence, clinical experience, unmet need and scientific research and must not promote specific medicines, brands, unlicensed medicines or off-label use.
ABOUT TREATMENT RESEARCH
There are currently no licensed treatments specifically for r(20) syndrome and no therapies in clinical development specifically for r(20). Discussions concerning treatment and future therapeutic approaches will therefore focus on current evidence, treatment response observations, unmet need and future scientific research directions.

Hotel Accommodation
Onsite accommodation will be available at the University of Warwick Conference Centre, Coventry CV4 7SH.
Guests can enjoy the onsite facilities included in their stay.
We have various rooms reserved, including a selection of twin, double and family rooms (sleeping 3 persons)
Our main base will be Warwick University Conference Centre.
We will be based primarily at Scarman and will use The Slate (shown here) for our Families Day on Saturday.
Use of Warwick University’s grounds and facilities are available to all guests staying onsite.
Feel free to enjoy the grounds or sports facilities (pool and gym access are free, other activities at cost).
Directions and transport links
By car
The postcode for all our venues is CV4 7SH and we are located within the University of Warwick campus.
For Scarman, Radcliffe and The Slate follow signs for Lakeside Village, you’ll then find signposts for the venues. Central Campus Venues is located on central campus, which is signposted off Gibbet Hill Road.
By train
Coventry is on the West Coast Mainline and serviced by regular trains, 7 days a week and is the most convenient train station for most visitors. It is served by trains from London Euston, Birmingham (New Street and International) and Leicester. From Coventry station,Link opens in a new window it’s easy to get a taxi or bus to us.
Canley and Tile Hill train stations are both served by trains from London, Milton Keynes, Birmingham, Coventry, Rugby and Northampton. Neither station has a taxi rank, so if you don’t want to walk, book a taxi in advance. Leamington Spa is served by trains from Birmingham, Coventry, Oxford, Reading and London Marylebone. You can get a bus to us from close to the station.
By bus
There are regular buses from the Coventry city centre, Coventry rail station and Leamington Spa. Taxis are easily available from these location.
From Coventry, the 11 and 12 bus routes both serve Warwick Conferences. Both buses call at the Rail Station Bridge SD stop on Warwick Road; a one-minute walk from Coventry station – view on Google mapsLink opens in a new window.
From Leamington Spa, the U1 and U2 buses serve Warwick Conferences. Both services stop at Parish Church Stand B; a seven-minute walk from Leamington Spa station – view on Google mapsLink opens in a new window.
By plane
The closest airport is Birmingham International AirportLink opens in a new window. A taxi to us from the airport will take approximately 20 minutes. Alternatively, you can take a direct train to Coventry from Birmingham International station which is located at the airport.
London Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton airports are all connected to Coventry by National ExpressLink opens in a new window coach services. Alternatively, you can take the train to Coventry, with a change in central London.

Here are some of the questions you might ask about our Families Conference weekend:
Yes, this event is open to people living with r(20) and their families. We also welcome healthcare professionals and industry/pharma companies with an interest in complex epilepsy.
As spaces are limited, places will be given to those with r(20) and their immediate family as a priority.
We are still working on ticket pricing, which will be minimal for r(20) families.
We are currently working on our budget and will advise shortly about accommodation bookings.
Ring20 aim to make a contribution towards hotel room costs.
We encourage our families to spend the weekend with us, however if you live close by and/or only wish to attend for the day on the Saturday, then you can join us simply for the main daytime program.
We are putting together a program that we hope will have something for all ages and abilities. Please note: parents/carers will remain the responsibility of their own children at all times.
We hope that we will be able to livestream the main presentations on the Saturday – to be confirmed…

We hope to be recording the sessions on the Saturday during the day so that we can share them on our website and YouTube channel after the event.
